Everything you need to know about selling your content on Tahiti Stock Footage

Getting Started

Please contact us at info[at]tahitistockfootage.com

TSF does not pay contributors upfront for their work. Instead, we operate as a service provider by offering the stock image platform, taking a commission on license sales, and paying contributors their respective share of each sale.

You can sell video footage and photos featuring Tahiti and the islands of French Polynesia.

To sell on the site, you must:

  1. Register as a Contributor
  2. Accept the Contributor Agreement
  3. Choose a username (this will be your public pseudonym)
  4. Send your content (photos, videos, graphics) to the administrator for validation and bulk upload

Note: Only photos can be uploaded individually from your Contributor profile.

Managing Your Content

  1. Go to your Contributor account
  2. Click on "My Publications"
  3. Choose the type of content you want to review or edit (photos, videos)
  4. Select an image by clicking "Edit"
  5. Fill in the title, description, and keywords fields
  6. Set a price if the function is enabled by the administrator
  7. Don't forget to save before leaving the page!

On your profile page, go to File Transfer, click "Create a Category" and add the desired category (if the function is enabled). Otherwise, contact the administrator to suggest a category to add.

On your profile page, click "Edit" under your name. Fill in the necessary fields, and add an avatar photo and a profile photo.

On your profile page, click "File Transfer". Choose a transfer method depending on whether you're uploading photos or videos.

For Photos: You can upload your files directly if you have a fast internet connection.

For Videos: Send a hard drive with your files to the site administrator who will handle the FTP transfer to the server. You'll then only need to enter the titles and descriptions. The administrator will also create high-quality watermarked preview videos.

From your profile page, go to "My Publications", choose the publication to edit, then enter keywords in the designated field.

On your publications page, select the image and click "Delete".

If this function is unavailable, contact the administrator at info[at]tahitistockfootage.com, indicating the publication number (e.g., "ID_12345") you wish to remove. All removals are permanent.

Licensing

Rights-Managed licenses exist for two categories of videos or photos: Basic or Premium.

The license price is then determined by duration (up to 20 seconds, up to 30 seconds, up to 40 seconds, or up to 60 seconds).

When sending your files on a hard drive, please organize them into folders: "Rights-Managed Basic License" and "Rights-Managed Premium License", with subfolders by duration if needed.

A Royalty-Free license is a managed rights license for use of the content in a defined project, for unlimited duration, valid worldwide.

An exclusive image is one that will be sold once and then removed from the catalog, ensuring exclusivity for the client.

Commissions & Payments

The net commission is set at 50% of the selling price, after any discount coupons applied for the customer (promotions, welcome discounts, volume discounts, etc., at Tahiti Stock Footage's discretion).

After each sale, your commission amount is automatically updated. The commission is paid as agreed in the Contributor Agreement you approved and signed during registration. You have access to details of your images sold under license.

On your profile page, go to "My Commissions", click "Settings", and enter your PayPal email address, or your bank account number and bank name.

Commission on your image sales is paid quarterly, once your balance exceeds €150, after the Site has ensured no refunds will occur. If no sales occurred during the quarter, no sales report will be sent.

  1. Tahiti Stock Footage sends you your sales report with your commission amount
  2. You must create your invoice using the same references
  3. Send it to Tahiti Stock Footage
  4. We'll pay your commission via your chosen payment method (bank transfer, check, PayPal, or Payplug)

Note: PayPal and Payplug may apply service fees.

For French Polynesia residents (businesses): You must inform the Site whether you are subject to VAT so we can calculate the tax and pay you the VAT-inclusive price. You are responsible for your annual income declarations and paying VAT and the "CPS" tax to the French Polynesia tax authorities.

For non-residents of French Polynesia: The net commission will be paid to you. You are responsible for your income declarations in your country of tax residence.

Model & Property Releases

It's a legal document signed by the filmed person or the owner of an object/brand that authorizes you to film and commercially exploit the image in the future.

A model release is required whenever a person or subject belonging to a person is recognizable. This document protects you against future legal action if the person feels their image was used in a defamatory way or in violation of their privacy.

This release is required for all commercial, advertising, or promotional uses.

A property can refer to a building, monument, car brand, etc.

Commercial use generally means images used to promote a product or service, or when profit will be derived from their use. This includes advertising, marketing, promotional, packaging, magazine covers, infomercials, and all merchandising products.

If you're unsure whether a model or property release is needed, please consult your legal advisor.

  1. Go to Profile page → Models
  2. Click "Add a release"
  3. Enter a title and description
  4. Upload a photo of the model or property
  5. Upload the signed release document in PDF format
  6. Validate

Remember to name the PDF file with the identity and image file ID provided by the site.

Technical Specifications

Video formats should be minimum HD 1920x1080, or 4K UHD (3840x2160) in native format, Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), H264, or QuickTime with a minimum bitrate of 100Mbps or native.

It's recommended to provide videos with good color grading. R3D files may be authorized (contact us).

We prefer files up to 30 seconds in duration, approximately 4GB for a 4K file in ProRes HQ. However, uploading files of this size may take longer than HD files. The Site does its best to accept large files, provided they have significant interest.

  • DVCpro HD
  • AVCHD

Sending Files by Hard Drive

Videos: Send your hard drive at your expense to:

Nicolas Malivet
Tahiti Stock Footage & Images
BP61510 FAAA
98702 TAHITI

Or by inter-island air freight (contact us beforehand with the arrival time at Tahiti-Faaa airport).

TSFP has fast internet access and uploads to servers weekly, depending on upload volume. TSFP handles the generation of preview clips (low resolution with watermark).

Photos: You can follow the same procedure as for videos, or if you have a good internet connection, you can upload your photo files directly from your account.

Your hard drive will be returned to you at your expense once your files have been backed up and transferred to the server. Shipping costs will be deducted from your commission account. File availability on your account depends on internet connection, server traffic, and preview generation (for videos), which may take 24 hours to a few days depending on workload.

Before transfer to the server, a copy of your files is made on a hard drive in a folder with your name. However, we recommend you keep a backup of the same files you send us, just in case.

Due to the size of UHD and 4K video files with Apple ProRes codec or native format, files exceeding 5GB may not be available for immediate sale. Tahiti Stock Footage offers the alternative of directly contacting clients who click the "Request a Quote" button. The file will then be uploaded after payment. However, the Site does its best to make large files available on the server.
